๐ŸŽ‰ 500 Views of Portable Chaos โ€“ Thank You for Stopping By!

Survivor Incognito has crossed 500 views! A huge thank you to everyone whoโ€™s joined the portable survival chaos. Hereโ€™s to more maps, more diaries, and probably more regrettable decisions.

57 Days. 500 Views. And At Least That Many Bad Spear Throws.

Somehow, this little survival corner of the internet has crossed 500 viewsโ€”and I want to say a huge thank you to everyone whoโ€™s visited, clicked, or accidentally found the blog while looking for something else entirely. (Hey, Iโ€™ll take it.)

When I started Survivor Incognito 57 days ago, it was just a space to share:

Survival game stories (usually featuring questionable decisions)

Maps and guides (so you donโ€™t get lost like I do)

And a lot of Switch-based chaos

Fast forward to today, and Iโ€™m genuinely thrilled that over 500 viewsโ€™ worth of folks have joined in. Whether you came for ARK maps, The Long Dark Customloper settings, Skyrim survival mishaps, or just to watch the chaos unfoldโ€”thank you.

๐Ÿš€ Whatโ€™s Next?

The chaos continues:

The Day One Diaries: ARK Edition is launching soon, filling the weekend gaps with fresh prehistoric panic.

The map pages and hubs will keep growing as I explore (and inevitably die in) new places.

More survival stories, more bad ideas, and probably more pinecone tea. Expect more information soon.

๐Ÿงญ Thanks for Joining the Journey

Iโ€™m just getting started. If youโ€™ve enjoyed the blog so far: โžก Bookmark the site
โžก Share it with fellow Switch survival fans
โžก Or just stick around for the next 500 views of portable disaster.

Hereโ€™s to the next milestoneโ€”and to thriving, not just surviving.

๐Ÿฆ– Day One Diaries: ARK Edition โ€“ Now Filling the Weekend Gaps

Day One Diaries returns with an ARK twist! Each short entry covers the first chaotic 24 hours on every map in ARK: Survival Evolved for the Nintendo Switch. Chaos, dinos, and bad decisions await.

So, People Have Been Clicking the ARK Map Pageโ€ฆ

โ€ฆand thatโ€™s either a promising sign or a harbinger of incoming disaster.

Either way, welcome to a brand-new side series here on Survivor Incognito:

> ๐ŸŽฎ Day One Diaries: ARK Edition
A bite-sized, chaos-fueled survival journal where I explore the first 24 hours on every ARK map available on the Nintendo Switch.

This series is coming soon and will drop on one of the blogโ€™s quieter daysโ€”Mondays, Saturdays, and Sundaysโ€”to fill in the gaps with some portable prehistoric panic.

๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ What to Expect

Each post will document:

โ€ข Where I spawned

โ€ข What I crafted (poorly)

โ€ข What inevitably killed me

And whether I learned anything (spoiler: probably not)

These arenโ€™t full playthroughsโ€”theyโ€™re glorified diary entries of my first day of disaster, all tied together with maps, Switch gameplay quirks, and whatever half-baked strategy I manage to invent before something eats me.

โœ… Already Posted

Iโ€™ve already covered the following maps in earlier posts:

The Island

Scorched Earth

So I wonโ€™t be redoing those. Instead, Iโ€™ll link back to those entries when their time comes in the lineup.

๐ŸŒ‹ Whatโ€™s Next?

From here, itโ€™s on to the rest of the maps available on the Nintendo Switch:

โ€ข Aberration

โ€ข Extinction

โ€ข Genesis Part 1

โ€ข Genesis Part 2

โ€ข Ragnarok (DLC)

Each time I publish a new Day One Diary, Iโ€™ll also update the ARK Map Hub with:

โ€ข The region map

โ€ข Survival notes

โ€ข Links to the interactive resource map

โ€ข Possibly a eulogy

๐Ÿงช A Preview of What Youโ€™re In For…

To set the mood, hereโ€™s a flawlessly accurate preview of what I expect my time in Aberration to look likeโ€”courtesy of Neebs Gaming:

> ๐ŸŽฅ Simon vs. Snake โ€“ Neebs Gaming in Aberration
Simonโ€™s alone. Eating peanuts. Thereโ€™s a snake. Panic ensues.

Itโ€™s everything ARK represents: snack time, followed by betrayal and screaming.

๐ŸŽฌ Chaos You Can Count On

If something truly unhinged happens during one of these Day One sessionsโ€”and letโ€™s be honest, it willโ€”itโ€™ll earn its own spotlight as a Survivorโ€™s Shorts post.

Because some moments of portable disaster deserve a dedicated write-upโ€ฆ especially the ones where I genuinely thought I was safe and then immediately wasnโ€™t.

๐Ÿ“… First Entry Drops Soon

Check back next Saturday for Day One in The Islandโ€”the first stop on this tour of Switch-based suffering. Followed by Scorched Earth the next week, and then finally, Aberration.

Expect bioluminescent fungus, regret, and gravity issues. See you there.

Dark Waters: A Dredge Survival โ€“ Day One

Where Am I, What Is That Fog, and Why Is My Compass Blinking at Me?

Day 1 of my Dredge permadeath playthrough. I crash a boat, inherit another, fish like a pro, and nearly get lost forever in Lesser Marrow. Welcome to Greater Marrowโ€”the creepiest fishing job Iโ€™ve ever had.

For more information on this, please check out: Dark Waters: A Dredge Survival Hub

Welcome to Greater Marrow: Where the Fish Are Plentiful and the Fog Eats Souls

The game opens with a cutscene: Iโ€™m peacefully boating along when heavy fog rolls in like an uninvited guest. Thenโ€”crash! Rocks. Camera pans to a lighthouse, which apparently decided to take the night off.

Inside the boat before the crash, I notice a crumpled job advert: โ€œAngler Wanted.โ€ I see now it meant sacrificial angler.

I wake up on a soggy dock at 6:00am on a Monday morning, having apparently faceplanted here the night before. The Mayor of Greater Marrow is there to greet me with all the cheer of someone who just hired a corpse to do a job.

He casually asks if I โ€œdidnโ€™t see the lighthouse.โ€ I choose not to answer, partly because Iโ€™m still drying out, and partly because I very clearly didnโ€™t. My boat? Completely ruined. But the Mayor had the locals haul my stuff into an old spare vessel. How quaint.

My First Fishing Trip and Immediate Cartographic Failure

The Mayor warns me to be back before sundown. Apparently fog does weird things after dark. Comforting.

I hop in the backup boat and head out. The controls are straightforward and intuitive. Time passes while fishing, sailing, or basically doing anythingโ€”so multitasking is not encouraged.

By 3:17pm, Iโ€™ve reeled in seven blue mackerel and three cod. Iโ€™m feeling confident. A little too confident. I decide I have time for just one more fish.

Spoiler: I didnโ€™t.

After grabbing another mackerel, I turn backโ€ฆ only to realise Iโ€™ve docked at Lesser Marrow, not Greater. Oops. I am, in fact, an idiot. A kind soul points me back to the lighthouse. By the time I get home, it’s 8:43pm and there’s a disturbing eye icon blinking next to my compass.

Is thatโ€ฆ panic? Hallucination? Ancient evil? Who knows!

Debt, Deals, and the Definitely-Not-Suspicious Fishmonger

Back at Greater Marrow, the Mayor is somehow still waiting for me like an overbearing boss. He says I can pay off the loan on the boat by selling fish, with โ€œa small percentageโ€ going toward town improvements. Sounds a bit pyramid-scheme-y, but I nod along.

Inside the Fishmongerโ€™s shop, he greets me with surprise: โ€œNew fisherman, already?โ€ I ask about the last one. He doesnโ€™t answer. Just says it takes a โ€œcertain type of personโ€ to last out here. You mean one with night vision and zero self-preservation instincts?

I sell my fish, earning enough to reduce my $50 debt to $31.58. Thatโ€™s decent for a day of being lost at sea.

The Mayor intercepts me again and hands over a research part, which I can use to upgrade my ship.

Upgrades, Nightfall, and Regrets

I pop into the Shipwrightโ€™s to check out the gear. After some very internal debating, I buy the Simple Skimmer Rod for catching shallow-water fish. It takes two in-game hours to install, meaning I walk out at 10:46pm.

I use the research part to unlock the Improved Outboard Engine, because clearly I need all the speed I can get after todayโ€™s performance.

I return to the dock, mentally exhausted, financially lighter, and very aware that this is only day one.

End of Day Summary

  • Fish Caught: 8 blue mackerel, 3 cod
  • Debt Remaining: $31:58
  • Creepy Things Spotted: One blinking eye
  • Times I Got Lost: Let’s just call it “multiple”
  • Regrets: Also multiple

โš ๏ธ Madness Strike #1: Fogblind and Foolish

Letโ€™s be honestโ€”I didnโ€™t mean to return after dark. But between misreading the map, mistaking Lesser Marrow for home, and ignoring the increasingly twitchy compass eye, it happened. The fog rolled in, and I rolled with it.

The rules are clear: return after sundown, and the mind pays the price.
So here it isโ€”my first Madness Strike.

Sanity: Fractured

Confidence: Shaken

Navigational Skills: Still questionable

What’s Next?

Day Two promises more fishing, more fog, and probably more confusion. Will I finally learn to navigate using the lighthouse? Will the eye by the compass blink twice? Will I discover what happened to the last fisherman?
