Carter Hydro Dam

Difficulty Rating: Intermediate
Best For: Industrial scavengers, water gathers
Recommended Base: None—use entrance rooms briefly

Welcome to the Powerhouse of Perils

Once an energy hub, now a frozen relic. Machinery creaks, corridors darken, and loot hides behind rusted doors.

Connects: Mystery Lake to Pleasant Valley.

Hazards:

Bears roaming the dam interior

Complex multi-level layout can disorient

Thin ice on the lower spillway

Loot Spots:

Control Room (tools, repair kits)

Storage Sheds (food, clothing spawns)

Generator Bay (scrap metal, workbench nearby)

Base Recommendations:

Control Room: Warm, enclosed, multiple workstations—best temporary shelter

Office Area (upper level): Good vantage, but colder and farther from supplies

Difficulty Note:
Moderate; strong loot potential but high animal threat and maze-like interior. Ideal for a focused gear run rather than long-term stay.

Winding River

Welcome to the Backdoor

Winding River is an icy corridor that connects Carter Hydro Dam to Pleasant Valley. It’s relatively calm but can get dangerous if you linger or take a wrong turn.

Hazards:

Thin ice and swift currents under snow

Steep embankments that cause sprains

Sudden blizzards that obscure the narrow path

Loot Spots:

Emergency Cache Cabin (basic food, clothing spawns)

Collapsed Bridge Site (limited gear in pockets)

Train Trolley Wrecks (occasional tools, scrap metal)

Base Recommendations:

No long-term base here—use the Emergency Cache Cabin for quick rests only

Carry a bedroll and firestarter; shelters are small and cold

Difficulty Note:
Short, linear connector from Mystery Lake to Pleasant Valley. Pack light, move fast, and treat it as a crossing, not a campsite.
