Subnautica Maps

Welcome to the map room, survivor. If you’ve ever swum headfirst into the Dunes thinking it was the Safe Shallows, this page is for you. Subnautica doesn’t offer an in-game map (because survival is more thrilling when you’re lost and panicking), but thankfully, the internet does. Below you’ll find a mix of static reference maps and a link to the interactive one I rely on to not die quite so often.

From biomes to wrecks, from Lifepod spawns to Leviathan “nope zones,” these maps will help you plan your route—or at least give you something to stare at while your Seamoth’s on fire.

Scroll down, pick a map, and remember: just because it looks peaceful doesn’t mean it is.

Detailed Map

Where Am I, and What’s Trying to Eat Me?

The map that shows everything: terrain, depth, biomes, lifepods, wrecks, Degasi bases, architect bases, architect arch teleporters, leviathans, and cave entrances

This is your master map of Subnautica’s biomes—color-coded, region-labeled, and probably the only reason I haven’t wandered into a Reaper nest again (this week). Use it to get your bearings, pick your panic zone, or figure out which flavor of ocean horror you’re currently swimming through.

Not to scale emotionally, but very helpful geographically.

Cave Systems

The Caves: Nature’s Maze, Now with Extra Drowning

Jellyshroom Caves

The Lost River

The Inactive Lava Zone

Lava Lakes

Think you’re ready for cave diving? That’s cute. These twisting oxygen traps are full of rare resources, useful fragments, and at least one creature you won’t see until it bites you. This map shows major cave systems—some safe-ish, others “I just wanted lithium and now I’m lost forever.”

Bring a Seaglide, extra air tanks, and low expectations.

🧭 Special Thanks

Big thanks to RocketSoup.net for their fantastic Subnautica maps, which helped me figure out where I was, where I shouldn’t be, and how far I could swim before the panic set in. Their static maps are clear, stylish, and lifesaving—especially when the Reaper roars and you forget which way is “not death.”

If you’re looking for detailed region breakdowns, wreck locations, or a better sense of direction than “left of the scary fish,” check out their full post here

Interactive Map

I’ve also found an interactive map of Subnautica for your enjoyment. It also has one of Subnautica: Below Zero so you can familiarise yourself with that before I go anywhere near that
