when a game introduces a relentless hunter,
tension must be earned — and survival must be limited.
Most series here operate under the Apex Predator Rule.
A fixed number of lethal encounters are allowed.
On the final strike, the predator wins.
The Apex Predator Rule
The Apex Predator Rule didn’t start as a brand concept.
It started as a way to survive Alien: Isolation.
Originally built around the Xenomorph,
the idea was simple: limit the number of lethal encounters
so tension stays high without turning the run into endless resets.
Over time, it became clear the system worked beyond Sevastopol Station.
Any game built around a relentless hunter —
Nemesis, Charles, or future apex threats —
can operate under the same structure.
The rule is flexible, but the principle is fixed:
survival is limited.
When the predator wins, the story ends.
