The Arbiter of Fate — Skyrim Expedition Companion

One Survivor. Many Worlds. Now, one Arbiter.

Every journey through Skyrim begins with a choice. Who will you become? Which factions will you join? Which quests will you pursue? And how much control are you willing to surrender along the way?

The Arbiter of Fate is a free, browser-based companion for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, created as part of Survivor Incognito.

Built around Skyrim — The Fate Director v2.0, it combines character progression, quest management, magic permissions and optional random decisions into one expedition tracker.

You can retain complete control over your adventure or allow Fate to influence the direction it takes.

You choose the journey. The Arbiter chooses the direction.

What Is The Arbiter of Fate?

The Arbiter is designed for players who want to introduce another layer of uncertainty to their Skyrim adventures without handing complete control over to a random number generator.

Rather than forcing a particular way to play, it provides a framework for creating and managing your own expedition.

You decide the rules before setting out. The Arbiter then works within those rules, helping you track your progress and, when invited, make decisions on your behalf.

Whether you’re beginning a new character or continuing an existing adventure, the aim is to make each journey feel like its own story.

Features

Character Creation & Progression

Choose your character’s race and starting playstyle. Track their level, skills and perks as the expedition develops. Perk Focus lets you define the skills that matter to your build, while practical playstyle guidance helps establish what sort of character you’re creating.

Quest Journal & Fate Assignments

Explore a curated catalogue of Skyrim quests, track which objectives you’ve discovered, and record those you’ve completed. Quests can also be blocked when they don’t belong in your expedition.

When you’re ready to surrender a decision, the Arbiter can select from eligible objectives according to your chosen restrictions and available information.

Faction Choices & Restrictions

Keep track of your faction decisions and the consequences they have for your expedition. Restrictions help prevent the Arbiter from deliberately assigning objectives that conflict with your chosen path.

Spellbook & Magic Permissions

Manage your character’s magical abilities through a dedicated Spellbook. Record learned spells, track which ones are permitted and choose how much influence Fate has over your magical development.

Three control approaches are available: Survivor’s Choice, Fate’s Choice and Shared Control. Magic permissions can also work alongside your selected Perk Focus.

Dragon Shouts

Follow your progress towards mastering the Thu’um. Track each shout’s individual Words of Power, distinguishing between words you’ve discovered and those you’ve unlocked for use.

Expedition Chronicle & Backups

Keep a record of your expedition’s decisions and progress. The Chronicle provides a history of your journey, while backup and restore options let you protect your expedition and transfer it between browsers or devices.

How to Begin

  1. Launch the Arbiter. Open the application using the link on this page.
  2. Create your character. Select your race and playstyle, then set your starting details.
  3. Establish your rules. Configure your Perk Focus, faction choices and the amount of control Fate will have.
  4. Discover your objectives. Use the Quest Journal to record quests as you encounter them.
  5. Begin the expedition. Play Skyrim normally, consulting the Arbiter whenever you need to track progress or ask Fate for a decision.

The application includes its own Getting Started instructions and a more detailed guide under Settings → How to Use The Fate Director.

Your Adventure Remains Yours

The Arbiter does not control Skyrim, change your save files or install modifications into the game. It is a separate companion that records decisions and provides guidance.

Some quest prerequisites, alternate outcomes and additional-content requirements may need to be checked in-game. The catalogue is a guide, not a guarantee that every listed objective is currently available to your character.

Fate can suggest the direction. You remain responsible for deciding how your story unfolds.

Saving Your Expedition

Your expedition data is saved locally in your browser. You don’t need an account, and the application doesn’t require a game connection.

Important: Browser data can be cleared, and different browsers or website addresses may not share the same saved expedition.

Use the JSON export feature in Settings to keep a backup, particularly before changing devices, browsers or versions. You can import your backup to continue your expedition elsewhere.

The standalone HTML application is also available through the GitHub repository for offline use.

Play by Your Rules. Or Let Fate Decide.

Survivor Incognito has always been about approaching familiar worlds with different challenges and accepting the consequences of the rules established before setting out.

The Arbiter of Fate takes that approach into Skyrim.

It isn’t designed to make every decision for you. It’s designed to make the decisions you choose to surrender matter.

Whether you remain in charge or invite a little uncertainty into the journey, the expedition is yours to survive.

One Survivor. Many Worlds.
