This is my ongoing Stranded Deep playthrough on Nintendo Switch — part gameplay blog, part survival diary, and part ‘was that coconut always watching me?’
Welcome to Sunburnt & Sinking, my relaxed but perilous permadeath survival journey in Stranded Deep on Nintendo Switch. Join me as I attempt to stay alive, avoid sunstroke, battle angry crabs, and build rafts that barely float — all while documenting each day with my usual mix of dry humor and questionable survival decisions.
📌 Series Overview
In this series, I play Stranded Deep in Normal mode with a permadeath rule: if I die, the run ends. Each entry chronicles my in-game days as I try to survive the dangers of the Pacific — from dehydration to sharks, to getting lost on an island the size of a tennis court.
🧭 Getting Started
Every survival tale needs a rough map and some hope in the form of button prompts. Here’s the map for my Stranded Deep run, along with the Nintendo Switch controls I’m using to desperately poke at coconuts and fend off aggressive crabs.
I should mention this is the map for the actual playthrough, not the Day One Diary, I forgot to take a screenshot of that.

Day One Diary: Tutorial Warm-Up – Day One – Stranded Deep
My return to Stranded Deep begins with the tutorial — where I relearn the basics, wrestle with confusing menus, and get bullied by a crab. This isn’t part of the main series, this was to help me get used to the controls, the main series will be on a completely new seed.
