Here’s What You Missed – Week of July 15th

Another week, another batch of survival stories wrapped in chaos and questionable decisions. Here’s what went down on Survivor Incognito this week:

  • Tuesday: Dark Waters: A Dredge Survival โ€“ Final Entry
  • Wednesday: The Cold Chronicles (Customloper) โ€“ Day Four
  • Thursday: Sneak, Snipe, Repeat โ€“ Day Twelve
  • Friday: SnowRunner Survival: The Permagear Diaries โ€“ Day One

Thatโ€™s one series wrapped, one launched, and two still going strong.

Also, a quick thank you โ€” last week the blog saw nearly 200 views. Whether you read one post or all of them, I appreciate you surviving alongside me (or at least watching me not survive).

On another note, the next few weeks are going to be busy for me. But I’ll do my best to keep the chaos here going

More mayhem next week.

โ˜ฃ๏ธ Permadeath Pending: Games That Might End Me Next

Hereโ€™s a look at the survival and horror games currently on deck at Survivor Incognito โ€” including Subnautica, Alien: Isolation, Resident Evil, and more. Expect disasters. Possibly nuclear.

While Iโ€™m still trying to survive sand, snow, sea monsters, and supply chain disasters (SnowRunner coughs in Michigan), Iโ€™ve also been staring at my backlog and thinking:

โ€œWhat else could go horribly wrong?โ€

Here are the games lurking in the blog pipeline โ€” all under consideration, none guaranteed to go well.

๐ŸŽฎ Games Under Consideration (aka: The Next Mistake)

๐Ÿชธ Subnautica & Below Zero

Status: Planned
Blog Potential: Longform underwater dread, optional screaming

Classic survival, but 500 meters underwater with alien jellyfish. Subnautica is set to follow Stranded Deep, assuming I donโ€™t starve to death on a raft before then.

Below Zero is the colder, weirder sequel. Iโ€™ll likely run it once Iโ€™ve built enough fake confidence from the original.

๐Ÿ‘ฝ Alien: Isolation

Status: “Definitely Maybe”
Blog Potential: High panic, high perishability

Itโ€™s just me, a broken flamethrower, and one very judgmental alien. Iโ€™m currently designing blog rules that allow me to survive more than one encounter without invalidating the whole series.

If I pull the trigger, itโ€™ll be part of Survivorโ€™s Dread โ€” assuming the alien doesnโ€™t pull it first.

๐Ÿงฑ Minecraft: Skyblock

Status: In Freefall
Blog Potential: Infinite resource drama, void-based trauma

Floating blocks. Limited resources. Me forgetting how gravity works. A Skyblock run could easily become a short-form Day One Diaries arc or a full permadeath challenge titled Skyward.

Every entry will involve a mistake that absolutely could have been avoided.

โ˜ข๏ธ Blast Corps (Permadeath Series)

Status: Scheduled post-SnowRunner
Blog Potential: Explosions. One life. Bulldozers.

This oneโ€™s simple: if the nuclear truck explodes, thatโ€™s the end of the series.

Expect a short, chaotic run where I flatten towns in the name of safety. The tone will be lighter. The stakes will be extremely not.

๐ŸงŸ Resident Evil (Zero, One, Revelations 1 & 2)

Status: Rotating Horror Fodder
Blog Potential: High-panic short arcs, possible scream counters

Classic survival horror. Typewriters. Puzzles. Me mismanaging ammo like itโ€™s my first zombie rodeo. These games could work as Survivorโ€™s Dread mini-series or feature as one-off challenge runs.

Permadeath rules apply. Panic is inevitable.

๐Ÿง  XCOM 2

Status: Under Tactical Review
Blog Potential: Emotional damage disguised as strategy

Turn-based survival meets naming your doomed teammates. Could become a squad diary under a name like Operation Incognito, or a straight-up permadeath campaign where I get attached and suffer the consequences.

If you want to watch me cry over fictional soldiers, this is the one.

๐Ÿ“ Completed Games & In Progress (For Nowโ€ฆ)

These titles have had their moment on the blog โ€” but might make a comeback when Iโ€™ve emotionally recovered:

  • Skyrim Survival Mode
My Argonian necromancer lived through cold weather, clumsy ambushes, and accidental vampirism. We may revisit his tale. Justโ€ฆ not Bleak Falls Barrow again.
  • The Long Dark โ€“ Voyageur Run
We tackled Mystery Lake, Coastal Highway, and transition zones full of regret. Future runs may include Customloper or Misery Mode, depending how brave (or foolish) I feel.
  • SnowRunner (Michigan Arc)
Once Michigan is cleared, Iโ€™m calling it. Iโ€™ll return to stuck trucks and bad contracts eventually, but first โ€” nukes.

๐Ÿ’ฌ So, What Should I Play Next?

Hereโ€™s where you come in. Got a favorite from the list above? Think I should suffer through Alien: Isolation before jumping into the ocean? Have your own terrible suggestion?

Drop a comment. Vote with chaos. Whisper โ€œSkyblockโ€ into the void. Whatever works.

Sneak, Snipe, Repeat: Skyrim Survival Day Twelve

The Dragon at Kynesgrove

Day 12 of the Skyrim Survival Mode playthrough. A desperate march through a blizzard leads to a deadly encounter with Sahloknir at Kynesgrove.

[Interlude Recap โ€“ The Road to Riverwood]

Because I forgot to make a note of what happened

After surviving a High Elf ambush near Honningbrew and realizing I’d accidentally sold my only torch (a true survival pro, clearly), I made the chilly trek from Morthal to Riverwood. My goal? Track down whoever had politely stolen Jurgen Windcallerโ€™s horn and left a cryptic note about it.

Upon arrival, I met the mysterious individual behind the theft โ€” who, thankfully, turned out to be more โ€œcryptic guideโ€ than โ€œbandit with a flair for calligraphy.โ€ They handed over the horn without a fuss, which was niceโ€ฆ right up until they asked me to go kill a dragon at Kynesgrove.

Because obviously, if I can survive wolves, hypothermia, and poor decision-making, dragon-slaying is the next logical step.

Chasing the Dragon (Literally)

There are days in Skyrim where you feel like destiny is calling. Today was one of those days. I could have taken a brief detour to drop off the horn with the Greybeards, but when you know there’s a dragon waiting to be resurrected, priorities tend to realign.

Vampires, bandits, assassins, wild animalsโ€”they all tried their best to slow me down along the way. But I was focused. The true fight lay ahead.

A Grim March Toward Kynesgrove

The journey itself was tense. The air grew colder with each step closer to Kynesgrove. Was it the dragon’s presence? Was it simply the Skyrim weather being its usual cruel self? Hard to say. I stopped several times to check my bearings and steal a few glances at Loki. It crossed my mind more than once that this might be our last trek together.

As I neared Kynesgrove, the weather fully descended into a blizzard. Visibility was almost nonexistent. I encountered a lone villager who confirmed the obvious: a dragon was circling above. No kidding.

A Brief Respite Before the Storm

I found the local inn, empty. Either everyone had fled or were smart enough to avoid the place entirely. With no one around and no real chance for rest, I left Loki safely behind and pressed on alone. Loki didn’t need to be part of this.

The Resurrection of Sahloknir

At the burial mound, Alduin made his grand appearance, resurrecting Sahloknir right before my eyes. The cold gnawed at me, my health bar already looking dangerously low before the real fight even began.

And then the battle was on.

The Fight for Survival

Sahloknir wasted no time unleashing his icy breath, shredding what little health I had left. I knew I couldn’t survive many hits. Then Delphine arrived, drawing the dragonโ€™s attention long enough for me to slip back and start unloading arrows.

When Sahloknir refocused on me, one more breath could have ended everything. But I kept firing. One arrow after another. Finally, the beast collapsed.

Victory, Barely

With Sahloknir slain, I spoke with Delphine. A Blade in the Dark was complete; Diplomatic Immunity had now begun. I staggered back into Kynesgrove, found the first available bed, and collapsed into it.

I live to fight another day.

Here’s What You Missed at Survivor Incognito

Another week, another set of chaotic survival tales. If you blinked, hereโ€™s what went live on the blog:

  • Tuesday: Dark Waters: A Dredge Survival โ€“ Day Six
  • Wednesday: The Cold Chronicles โ€“ Day Eight
  • Thursday: Sneak, Snipe, Repeat โ€“ Day Eleven
  • Friday: The Backyard Trials: Grounded Permadeath โ€“ Final Entry

One story wraps up, others carry on. Thanks for tagging alongโ€”more survival chaos ahead next week.

Sneak, Snipe, Repeat: Skyrim Survival Day Eleven

Loki the MVP, and Ustengrav Gets Sneaky

Day 11 of my Skyrim Survival Mode playthrough on Nintendo Switch. I cure my vampire disease, nearly lose the run to disconnected controls, and finally become the stealth archer I keep pretending to be.

Missed the previous day? Find it here: Skyrim Survival Day Ten

Cured, Not Cursed

After some internal debate, I decided to cure the disease before I fully turned vampire. Iโ€™m not ruling out the vampire lifestyle forever, but for now I prefer my Argonian warm-blooded and not photophobic. Maybe next time.

Ustengrav Ambush: Hooves First, Questions Later

Outside Ustengrav, Iโ€™m ambushed by three bandits and a necromancer. Couldโ€™ve been the end of the runโ€”especially when my Joy-Cons disconnected mid-fight. Nothing like fumbling for a controller while enemies swing for your skull.

Luckily, Loki stepped in. I dismounted and used hit-and-run tactics while my horse quite literally stomped the threat out of them. Between the panic, arrows, and hooves, we made it through.

Depths of Ustengrav: Stealth Archer, Finally

Inside, I finally commit to the stealth archer lifestyle I keep pretending Iโ€™ve mastered. Draugr fall one by one to well-placed arrows, never knowing what hit them. This is the dream.

For a brief moment, I wonder if thereโ€™s a way to bring Loki into dungeons. Probably not. Still, the mental image of a stealth horse sneaking past Draugr is one Iโ€™ll cherish.

The Horn Is… Missing?

Reach the end of Ustengrav, expecting to claim the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller. Instead, I find a note. Great. Someoneโ€™s stolen it and wants a private meeting at the Sleeping Giant Inn in Riverwood. Because thatโ€™s not suspicious at all.

Back to Morthal

With the dungeon cleared and no horn in sight, I head back to the inn in Morthal to thaw out and call it a day. Iโ€™ll deal with mystery notes and secret meetings tomorrow. For now, Iโ€™ve earned some warm food and sleep.

Hereโ€™s What You Missed This Week โ€“ Survivor Incognito Recap

A look back at the survival chaos from this week on Survivor Incognito: from haunted seas and freezing wilderness to dino disasters and exploding oaks.

Itโ€™s been a week full of questionable decisions, close calls, and new beginnings here at Survivor Incognito. In case you missed any of the madness, hereโ€™s your survival cheat sheet!

๐ŸŒŠ Tuesday โ€“ Dark Waters: A Dredge Survival โ€“ Day Five

The search for one stubborn fish continued, along with a steady descent into darkness and dread.

๐Ÿ‡ Wednesday โ€“ Customloper Diaries Day Three

Charcoal maps, rabbit stew, and a sudden storm โ€” because survival in The Long Dark is never boring.

๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Wednesday โ€“ Behind the Blog: ARK Map Page Expansion

A behind-the-scenes update! Iโ€™m working on expanding the ARK Survival Evolved map page to cover all Switch maps. All the regions, all the doom.

๐Ÿน Thursday โ€“ Sneak, Snipe, Repeat: Skyrim Survival โ€“ Day Ten

Vampires, arrows, and highly questionable footwear choices. My Argonian had quite the day.

๐Ÿœ Friday โ€“ The Backyard Trials: Grounded Permadeath โ€“ Day Three

The lasers were fixed, the oak tree exploded (as it does), and the backyard remains terrifying.

๐Ÿฆ– Saturday โ€“ ARK: Aberration โ€“ Day One Diary

Punching trees, hallucinating plants, and being reminded why Aberration is not the friendliest place to spawn.

Whatโ€™s Next?

More chaos, more permadeath, and maybe even a few victories (no promises). Stay tuned!

Sneak, Snipe, Repeat: Skyrim Survival Day Ten

Vampires, Arrows, and Question Footwear

Day 10 of my Skyrim Survival playthrough on Nintendo Switch. I finally track down the Master Vampire, get cursed, loot a backpack, and question one vampireโ€™s strange obsession with boots.

Missed the previous entry? Find it here: Skyrim Survival Day Nine

Cave of Arrows and Errors

I picked up where I left offโ€”tracking down the Master Vampire whoโ€™d been making Morthal miserable. The cave wasnโ€™t far, but it was full of surprises. The first being how embarrassingly bad I am with a bow.

Two frostbite spiders greeted me, and I introduced them to about fifteen arrowsโ€”most of which missed. Somehow they didnโ€™t notice. Either Iโ€™m too stealthy or they were too busy being creepy in the dark.

Thralls, Vampires, and the Great Boot Hoard
Things picked up after that. I managed to sneak around and take out two thralls without them raising the alarm. They dropped quietly, like they knew it was their time.

Then I stumbled across a vampire sleeping off the night shift. One solid sneak attack and it was nap time forever. They didnโ€™t have much, but their bookshelf was packed with boots. Not books. Boots. One of them boosted my sneaking, so I took the hint and left the rest.

Alva, Infection, and Indecision

Further in, Alva reappearedโ€”clearly still in a mood after her last defeat. A thrall decided to help me by attacking her, which made things easier. But before I could finish the job, she tagged me with Sanguinare Vampiris. So now Iโ€™m infected. Not thrilled, but not rushing to cure it either. Still weighing the pros and cons of turning undead.

Mission Complete, Bonus Backpack Secured
Eventually I found and eliminated the Master Vampire. No dramatic boss fightโ€”just a clean, quiet finish. I headed back to Morthal, where the Jarl thanked me and promised the Thane title if I helped the locals.

While doing some casual burglaryโ€”I mean, investigatingโ€”I came across a backpack enchantment that boosts bow damage by 10%. I took it as divine intervention for my earlier archery shame.

Rest, Recovery, and Ustengrav Awaits

With the vampire threat handled (for now), I rested at the inn and prepped for tomorrowโ€™s journey to Ustengrav. Hopefully no more spiders. Or at least fewer boots.

Behind the Blog: ARK Plans, Minecraft Madness, and Whatโ€™s Coming Next

A peek behind the scenes at Survivor Incognito! Iโ€™m planning an epic ARK map-hopping permadeath series, scheming up Minecraft chaos with 15 survival rules, and plotting the next waves of mayhem.

I figured it was time for a little behind the blog moment โ€” because while my in-game characters are busy getting eaten, frozen, or flattened, Iโ€™m quietly plotting even more ways to make their (and my) lives harder. Hereโ€™s whatโ€™s brewing in the background of Survivor Incognito.

๐Ÿฆ– ARK: One Map Just Isnโ€™t Enough

If you thought Day One Diaries for ARK: Survival Evolved was the end of my dino-related disastersโ€ฆ oh no. The plan is to turn ARK into a full permadeath series where I attempt to survive across all the Switch maps. That means scorched deserts, radiation zones, angry dinos, and probably at least one embarrassing death involving a dodo.

Right now, Iโ€™m working on:

  • Fine-tuning the settings so itโ€™s challenging, but not โ€œspawn, breathe, dieโ€ levels of misery.
  • Figuring out a sensible (or chaotic) map progression โ€” because who doesnโ€™t want to see me go from Midlands 4 to Aberration and beyond?

This new series will (hopefully) kick off after the ARK Day One Diaries finish, so stay tuned!

โ›๏ธ Minecraft: 15 Rules of Mayhem

Yes, Iโ€™m also eyeing Minecraft. But not just any survival run โ€” Iโ€™m planning a permadeath challenge with a twist:

  • ๐Ÿ‘‰ Iโ€™ll start with a list of 15 survival rules.
  • ๐Ÿ‘‰ Each day, I have to follow one rule.
  • ๐Ÿ‘‰ If I fail? The next day Iโ€™ll have to follow two rules at once.
  • ๐Ÿ‘‰ Keep failing? Enjoy juggling three, four, five rulesโ€ฆ you get the idea.

Itโ€™s part survival, part self-sabotage, part comedy. Iโ€™m still finalizing the rules (because letโ€™s be honest, there are so many ways to make this worse for myself). Expect everything from โ€œno weapons todayโ€ to โ€œyou must sleep every night or else.โ€

๐Ÿ”œ Whatโ€™s Coming Next

In the meantime, the usual suspects continue:

  • SnowRunner: The Permagear Diaries are ready to get muddy.
  • Dredge: Madness? What madness? Iโ€™m totally fine.
  • The Cold Chronicles: Still cold. Still surviving. Somehow.
  • Sneak, Snipe, Repeat: Stealth archer life, mostly.
  • Grounded: Where the backyard is the scariest place Iโ€™ve ever been.

Thanks for following along! If youโ€™re enjoying the ride (or the wrecks), make sure to subscribe or follow on Tumblr, Facebook, or Bluesky. Chaos loves company.

Hereโ€™s What You Missed This Week โ€“ Survivor Incognito Recap
